Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Lifetime Teeth Today different from other dental implants?

Lifetime Teeth Today is a breakthrough, simplified approach that renders a fully functional dental solution for tooth-loss in a fraction of the time and for a fraction of the cost of standard implants. Lifetime Teeth Today is one of the few dental implant centers that houses a board certified oral surgeon and fully equipped lab all in one place. This makes it possible to arrive in the morning, and depart in the afternoon with a complete major mouth restoration.

My Dentist advised me that I do not have sufficient bone to be a candidate for dental implants. Can Lifetime Teeth Today help me?

If you’ve been told that you do not have enough bone, don’t be discouraged. We employ unique techniques that are beyond the scope of standard dental implants. In most cases these specialized techniques allow us to place implants using the patient’s existing bone where this would not be possible at a standard implant center. There are still cases where bone needs to be added; this can be done through a simple minor bone graft procedure using a special grafting material.

How long does it typically take to recover after surgery?

Normally, patients return to normal activity within 3-5 days after surgery. Generally there is little pain or discomfort; however, around twenty percent of patients experience some bruising, which may cause some patients a slight delay returning to their normal routine.

Are there any foods that I should avoid after my surgery?

For the most part, you can enjoy a normal diet and all of your favorite foods. However, although the material used for your dental implants is very tough and designed for normal function, there are some things you may bite on that will be harder than the materials your implants are made from. Patients should avoid popcorn kernels, hard nuts, hard candies, hard pretzels, ice, and other foods that require crushing. Because the implants feel like your natural teeth, it may be easy to forget, and sometimes damage may occur. Fortunately, dental implants are easy and inexpensive to repair, normally done in the office for roughly the same cost as a filling. This is a distinctive advantage over standard porcelain bridges and crowns which are much more brittle, cannot be repaired, and must be completely replaced at a much higher cost.

Are there affordable financing options for Lifetime Teeth Today?

Lifetime Teeth Today offers several financing options that allow our patients to have the teeth they always dreamed of, eat the foods they enjoy, and smile with confidence. In addition to our financing options, patients can use low interest home equity loans, or loans from local banks. Also, depending on your age or income, there may be tax deductions available that can substantially offset the cost of your dental implants. If the dental implants exceed 10% of the cost of the patients adjusted gross income, that patient may be eligible for a tax deduction. If the patient is over 65, until December 31st 2016, the patient may claim a tax deduction if the implants exceed 7.5% of their adjusted gross income.  We recommend that you discuss these potential deductions with your accountant or tax specialist.

Will I ever have to leave the office without teeth?

No. If the process is not yet complete, Lifetime Teeth Today will provide you with a perfectly fitting temporary solution. Obviously, your ability to enjoy your favorite foods may be affected until the process is complete and you leave our office with your final, beautiful permanent teeth.

How long will the Lifetime Teeth Today process take?

The Lifetime Teeth Today process can be done in as little as one day. It is possible to arrive in the morning and depart in the afternoon with beautiful permanent teeth. However, no two patients are alike and treatment times may vary depending on factors such as pre-existing infections, insufficient bone, the need to remove existing teeth, and the amount of implants required. In most cases, the process will range between three and sixteen weeks, but could take longer if substantial bone grafting is required. A consultation with a board certified oral surgeon would provide an accurate time line for your specific circumstance.

Is Lifetime Teeth Today a solution primarily for people who wear dentures?

Lifetime Teeth Today is ideal for denture wearers, but is also a perfect solution for anyone who is suffering from tooth loss. Dental implants are beautiful, allow you to eat the foods you love, preserve the natural bone, are designed to be a permanent solution, and even feel like your natural teeth. But if you are a denture wearer, then dental implants are definitely for you. Life with dentures means messy pastes, discomfort, slipping, inability to eat favorite foods, a shrinking jawbone and the constant fear of being seen without your teeth. For denture wearers, changing to permanent dental implants is nothing short of “life-altering”.

Does it matter how old I am?

Lifetime Teeth Today is an appropriate solution for adult tooth loss. Regardless of the patient’s age, all patients should have their health evaluated by their primary care physician before embarking on any type of surgery.

I have a habit of grinding my teeth; will I damage my dental implants?

Individuals who have a history of grinding their teeth may find this habit difficult to break. Just like your natural teeth, grinding can wear down the surfaces of your implants and require more frequent maintenance. Fortunately, dental implants are designed with repairs in mind. For less than the cost of a crown, surfaces can be replaced.

What effect will periodontal disease have on my dental implants?

Periodontal disease is primarily caused by infected teeth. When teeth are removed, so is the source of infection. Implants are made of titanium, which does not become infected. Patients should still exercise good oral hygiene and have cleanings four times a year.

For overdentures, do I remove my teeth at night like regular dentures?

The permanent fixed overdentures are removable only by your oral surgeon. You live with them just as you would your natural teeth. If you have opted for the removable overdentures, they are anchored very firmly in place and are “snapped” in and out as desired. You may remove these as you wish for cleaning, but other than that, there is no need to remove them.

What about my regular dental cleanings?

Patients should maintain their regular dental cleanings; we recommend three or four times per year.

Will my titanium implants set off alarms on metal detectors?

No, the implants are similar to standard fillings and crowns and are not identified in a security scan.

Will my Lifetime Teeth Today teeth actually last for a lifetime?

Lifetime Teeth Today dental implants are designed to last a lifetime. In fact, dental implants have proven to be the longest lasting restorative process in dental history, 25 years and counting. There may be occasions where repairs are required for patients who have bitten on something too hard, or are habitual teeth grinders, but repairs are typically fast and inexpensive. It is rare that an implant itself will need repair, but if this is the case, the surgeons and staff at Lifetime Teeth Today stand behind our work and are committed to your satisfaction and your well-being.
